About
About TravelTutor
TravelTutor is a practical guide to planning trips with points and miles. It’s for people who want to use their rewards well without becoming full-time experts: first-time award travelers, couples weighing up a premium-cabin trip, and US-based travelers heading to the UK and Europe.
What we focus on
Award travel is full of headline numbers: a seat for so many miles, a hotel night for so many points. Those numbers rarely tell the whole story. Our guides look at the whole journey: the cash you still pay, the cabin on every flight, the flexibility you give up, and what you’d have paid in cash for a trip you’d actually book.
Each guide is built around a real decision, such as whether to transfer points yet, whether a mixed-cabin award is worth it, or whether points or cash is better for a hotel stay. Where a calculation helps, we show it, with every assumption stated so you can swap in your own numbers.
What we don’t do
- We don’t rank “best cards” or promise a particular saving.
- We don’t promise award availability, approval for any card, or that a rule will stay the same.
- We don’t invent personal experiences. When a guide uses a worked example, it’s labeled as illustrative.
Program rules change often. Always check the official terms of the program you’re using before you act, especially before transferring points, which usually can’t be undone.
