Editorial policy and disclosures
Our standard
We aim for guidance that is useful and checkable. That means:
- Official sources first. For rules and figures, we rely on official sources: airline, hotel and cruise-line terms, bank and card-issuer terms, and government pages. Where a guide depends on a specific rule or figure, such as UK Air Passenger Duty rates, it names the source.
- Showing our working. Calculations show every assumption, so you can check them and use your own numbers.
- Labeling examples. Worked examples are labeled as illustrative unless they say otherwise. They show a method, not current prices.
- No invented experience. We don’t make up personal stories, test results or credentials.
- No guarantees. We don’t promise award availability, card approval or a particular saving.
How guides are written
Guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools. The editor is responsible for what’s published, including its accuracy, its sources and any corrections.
Updates and corrections
Loyalty programs change their rules often. We update guides when we learn that a rule, figure or recommendation has changed, and we change a guide’s date only when its content has changed in a meaningful way. If you rely on a specific rule, check the program’s current terms before acting.
Commercial relationships
TravelTutor has no affiliate links, sponsored content or paid placements at the time of writing. If that changes, we will say so clearly beside the relevant link or recommendation, and update this page. Payment will never decide what we recommend without telling you.
General information only
Our guides are general education. They don’t replace a program’s official terms, or individual financial, tax or legal advice.
